VOLUNTEER NEWS There have been some major changes in the volunteer department in the month of July. First and foremost was a change in personnel. Tim Hogan has moved upstairs to the public relations office. His replacement is Rebecca Lytle. Becky has been working with Tim for the last few weeks and is starting to get the hang of the volunteer coordinator position. She is looking forward to meeting all of the volunteers, and while it may take a while for her to learn your name, she is excited to see what God can do through the volunteer department. If you are around the main Mission area, feel free to stop by and introduce yourself. Our purpose is to update you on what's happening at the Mission and let you know of specific needs that you might want to fill. Feel free to reply with suggestion, questions or your volunteer story. If you'd rather not receive future issues, there's a link for you at the bottom of the page.

The Washington City Mission continues to expand, improve and plan for the future to serve the homeless, hungry and needy of the region. With several new projects in their beginning stages and several more still in their planning stages, the need for volunteers is ever more apparent. We recently restructured our talent development program, allowing our residents to take a more active role in the daily operation of the Mission. While some of our volunteer opportunities are pressing, more opportunities will present themselves as the Mission continues to grow and serve. In the mean time, check out the volunteer opportunities below to see how you can help.

computers for a while–we have filing and other office work for you.
If you have limited availability,
ask me about our need for a weekly shredder. · Retail Stores ~ We have ongoing needs for volunteers in all of our Hidden Treasures Stores. If coming to Washington isn't convenient, this is the job for you. Choose from Canonsburg, Donora, Waynesburg and Washington. The greatest need is for our Waynesburg store. TO PRAY ABOUT:
Scripture/Ponder Have you been looking in your basket and thinking, “I only have 5 fish and 2 loaves, who can I help with that?” In Mark, chapter 6, Jesus multiplies the little that the disciples had and was able to feed the multitudes. Don’t be discouraged if you can only offer a small amount of time to volunteer. Only God knows how much good can come of it. See Mark 6:36-44 |
The Washington City Mission exists to share Christ, to shelter, to heal and to restore the homeless to independent living without discrimination. |
